Works for me Wednesday
Playing along with Shannon at Rocks in my Dryer. Visit her blog for lots of ideas.
Occasionally, I intend for my kids to take naps in the car, like on road trips. However, most often I would prefer for them not to sleep because I want them to nap when we get home, thus preserving my sanity. Sometimes it is nearly impossible to keep them awake if we are approaching nap time. You know, not because they are all that tired but because the car just has that sleepy effect.
So, this was a delimma until recently. I discovered that if you roll down the window closest to them they perk right up! This is especially effective if it is chilly out. Now, you might ask, is this a little mean? Well, maybe a little, but it is much worse for everyone if Mama is deprived of afternoon naptime. Survival, people, it’s all about survival. Works for me!
I roll down the window with Micah too. You got to do what you got to do. I’m all for naps!

Sadly, this does NOT work for my son… he can sleep through just about ANYTHING. A blessing in most cases, but a pain in the neck when you want him to stay awake for 40 more minutes until you get home!

Good idea. I’ll have to try it next time we need afternoon driving sans naptime. (Though I think I will have to wait till it warms up. It was all of 30-below this morning.
Though we do tend to stay home till it’s above -20, so they would never have something that cold blowing on them

I’ll have to remember this one… except doing this in the winter in Iowa might actually be meaner than a Momma without naptime. I might just have to save it for the days that are above 15 degrees, huh?

Thanks for the link to Rocks in my Dryer. I did visit and then I linked around and visited several more. Wow. Who knew that there was this whole world of blogging moms out there? (probably you all did…I’m so not-cutting-edge!) Some of them were great. Thanks for giving me more reasons to spend time on my computer.
