Brenna worked hard watering the flowers at this fun children’s garden here in Ft Collins. They have this big water feature where kids can fill up little watering cans and water the flowers. Brenna was delighted, and she took her job very seriously.  

I confess that I am not all that crazy about babies. It’s selfish; they just don’t give much back in return for the effort that is put forth on their behalf. Now toddlers, they have there own issues, but I find that as my kids progress into and through toddlerhood I enjoy them more and more. I look foward to all the stages to come. Joseph is just now beginning to show signs of progressing out of babyhood. Fun times. Here is his latest.

"Can I go back to bed?"

"Look out! Here I come." 

The latest sign of Brenna’s growth is the question we’re constantly hearing these days: "But why?"

• "No sweetie, no more cranberries. We’re about to eat dinner." "But why?"
• "I don’t think you can fit inside your toy boat." "But why?"
• "No, we can’t go to Granny’s house, or Mimi’s house, or Papa Jim’s house." "But why?"
• "Because they live too far away, darling." "But why?"

Hmm…guess Brenna’s not the only one who might be asking that last one.

As evidenced by the celebratory photo in the post below, Uncle Brock and Aunt Brittney came to visit us in CO, and among the fun things that we did together was hiking in Lory State Park. Brenna proved herself to be quite the avid hiker on our 1.5 mile trek. I was so proud of her adventurous spirit. She spent the first 3/4 of the hike walking, running, or climbing out in front yelling, "come on guys. let’s climbing over these rocks." I guess she has
picked up a thing or two from her friend Dora. It was a fun day and I still can’t get over how precious Brenna was.

Jospeh had a good time too.
