three of a kind

Monday, July 24th, 2006

On Friday we had a long day, but we came out mostly unscathed and with a new car. (A honda pilot – it is very fun.) As I was sitting in the car place with our crabby children waiting on C.W. to finish the paper work. I had the most interesting interaction with two very interesting people. One was a incredibly large black woman wearing stilletto heels (at 2:00p.m.) and a gold tooth, she had a huge hairdo and even more attitude. The other was a skinny white dude with a shaved head and tattoos and facial hair a plenty. And then there was me. I give you all these details to paint you a picture of the three of us. Turns out they both had kids about Brenna’s age and we started talking about the joys and the woes of having an almost two year old. (The woes being demonstrated by Brenna who was up past naptime and bored – a bad combination.) It struck me so funny that the three of us, from quite different cultures had a such a common ground in our kiddos. We must have been quite the sight sitting there laughing and talking and trading stories.

Some commentary on the photos below

Monday, July 17th, 2006

A healthy basil plant….can you believe it? Let the pesto begin!! Just don’t ask about the tomato plants behind it. It’s not pretty.

Yikes…mom, carrie, does this remind you of anything?

Master coffee roaster….this would have been a picture of C.W. at his finest, but he ran out of propane before the beans were done. We tried them anyway. Ick.

Bubbles are Brenna’s new favorite activity. She is borderline obsessed.

So sweet…Isn’t it great to see a man being a Daddy to his little girl?

Chub-o….We think that Joseph might have linebacker potential. I am grateful that he is so healthy, but I am already thinking about what a chore it is going to be lugging him around at 6 months.
